With the help of public institutions, we have succeeded to submit to the Parliament a bill regarding green procurement. Representatives of 11 organizations have improved their knowledge and organizational capacity on environmental issues, ecological criteria and green procurement, and have participated in the drafting of the innovative bill. We are talking about a framework law, which underlies consistent and comprehensive policies on the promotion of ecological criteria in public procurement in Romania. The comprehensive documentation process of the initiative and the advocacy efforts have led to a long-term partnership with the Ministry of Environment to promote green public procurement. 140 individuals have participated to the debates, the project has captured the interest of the Ministry of Environment, who organized and hosted the last event of the initiative. The interest shown toward the project could also be noticed in the openness of the politicians to give law-supporting testimonies and in the participation of all the main interested stakeholders, from the local to the central level. The 7 local partners – who gained knowledge on advocacy – succeeded to involve most of the relevant local authorities to the debate and succeeded to conclude 10 collaboration protocols and commitment papers to undertake efforts to apply the green procurement rules.
