Look at abilities, forget incapacity - implementation of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) in social inclusion services for Romanian wheelchair users

We have managed to organize the first training courses based on the good practice of the inclusion of people with disabilities, the only courses of this kind in Romania. They have helped industry specialists develop skills to use ICF-based tools – International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health in providing services for people with disabilities. 225 specialists from various areas of the country have been trained in the use and implementation of ICF. Also, 100 professionals participated in an awareness raising conference on ICF-IPSCI, in Bucharest. This has signaled the need to use the international classification of functioning, disability and health to change the approach used in Romania in providing services to people with disabilities.
