We have set up 10 initiative groups in 10 Roma ethnic communities whose primary objective has been to improve the quality of the living space and the community as a whole, building on an integrated and adjusted methodology for each community. The project has aimed to have an integrated approach that emphasizes the community development process as a response to housing and living issues in Roma or mixed ethnic communities located in rural or small urban areas in southern Romania, considering both the terms of the living space and its use as a renewable resource. By participating in the workshops organized within the project, approximately 350 people have actively been involved in the process of comunity needs assessment. Furthermore, initiative groups have actively been involved in the rehabilitation of 20 individual homes together with community residents.
