Through the project activities we have helped to raise the public awareness regarding the public space and urban planning. To the same extent, we have also aimed at increasing the involvement of young people in real-life actions for the development of public spaces and their community. Thus, over 7,000 high school students participated in presentations held in 9 high schools in Bucharest. We have created a geoblog and a mobile application for mapping public spaces in Bucharest, as well as an online guide on urban planning processes. More than 40 students and 9 volunteers attended 6 workshops and 4 urban walks. That’s how we managed to identify 8 public spaces suitable for redevelopment. For 3 of these we have submitted technical projects and obtained approvals from local authorities, being arranged together with pupils, students and community volunteers. An exhibition of the YPLAN project was available at Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism of Bucharest and was open to all persons interested, but especially to Architecture students.
