Through the project, we proposed to develop a sustainable partnership between the Swiss and Romanian partners in order to help to identify the right solutions for the transition to a green economy at local/regional level, a necessity derived from the frequency and magnitude of the phenomena associated with the climate change, both in Romania and in the world. 20 local experts have learned about how to prepare the greenhouse gas inventory and about developing a sustainable energy action plan. We set up working groups in 5 selected municipalities (Focșani, Alba Iulia, Roşiorii de Vede, Roman, Făgăraş) and collected data for the emissions inventory. We have also developed local action plans. 12 municipal representatives and 4 representatives of the project implementation team participated in study visits to Geneva and Lausanne, meeting with local authorities in Geneva and Carouge, focusing on green projects such as waste management, water treatment, use of renewable energies, recycling of tires, etc. The Swiss partner R20 produced a brochure with examples of good practices visited in Switzerland, which was then printed and distributed to local authorities in Romania. 116 representatives of local and regional authorities participated at thematic seminars aimed to disseminate information on Local Sustainable Energy Action Plans and the experience acquired during the visit to Switzerland.
