As part of the project, we have succeeded to establish a support and cooperation mechanism between relevant stakeholders in Romania and Switzerland that promoted eco-innovation at industrial level and contributed to a sustainable and balanced development of businesses from an economic and social perspective. In order to raise awareness and knowledge of the target group, we have worked with AGEDEVE to set up the virtual knowledge hub in eco-innovation. In this way, we have also created a clear structure to provide relevant documents on the concept of eco-innovation, ways to develop ecological innovations, success stories and policies to support eco-innovation. The analysis report describing existing national conditions, the most common challenges and threats on the market as well as the general opportunities for eco-innovation was developed by NCSPC experts with the support and consultation of Swiss experts. Demonstration of the eco-innovation concept was carried out at a printing house in Timișoara, during 5 intensive workshops dedicated to initial assessments, data collection, case analysis and identification of eco-innovative opportunities, to support the company in reducing consumption of resources and environmental impact. 12 companies were attracted to the Green Entrepreneurs’ Club, in a combined approach, focused on training, coaching and individual support to participating companies, to help them to identify eco-innovative solutions for their businesses. 24 experts from Romanian partners, representatives of different universities, research institutes, clusters and companies have strengthened their capacity by participating in 2 eco-innovation training sessions in Timișoara and Bucharest. 12 Romanians also went on a study visit to Switzerland, a context in which they could see eco-innovation in practice and learned from the experience of prestigious Swiss organizations in Geneva, Lausanne and Neuchatel. The “Romanian Network for Eco-Innovation” was initiatied and strengthened during 4 meetings focused on needs, internal organization, strategy and future actions, being prepared to further promote eco-innovation and advance new projects in this field in Romania.
