50 elementary and middle school pupils from 3 rural communities in Prahova county have been included in remedial activities and educational counseling, through the Aflatoun model. We have set up 3 Aflatoun clubs in the targeted communities, where community teachers and facilitators helped interested pupils to improve their school attendance and performance. Moreover, pupils have benefited from individual and group counseling and their families have been involved in the educational process. The teachers have volunteered in the project and developed a curriculum for corrective education, especially for mathematics and Romanian language, where pupils face the biggest problems. Another important result of the project was the set up of 3 initiative groups at the level of all 3 communities involved (Boldesti, Cotofana, Poieni) who, through the community facilitation received, have made steps towards helping their communities. 180 people were involved in assessing the community needs and resources in all 3 communities involved in the project.
