Community centers for Lifelong Learning – an integrated approach to overcome economic, social and educational disparities in rural areas from the West region of Romania
We have increased the access to education for disadvantaged adults from rural areas by setting up 4 community centers for lifelong learning with the support of local authorities in localities in the counties of Timiş, Arad, Hunedoara and Caraş-Severin. With the help of the Swiss Federation for Adult Learning, we have developed a series of training support materials for community facilitators and for courses dedicated to the direct beneficiaries of the centers. The implemented educational programs have contributed to the development of the basic skills of over 900 socially disadvantaged adults. They have benefited from professional and vocational development activities and from community development activities.
