The project has helped improve the quality of life of over 400 women sex workers active in Bucharest and on national roads in other 13 counties. They face stigma and discrimination, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, but also a multitude of forms of violence, from structural, institutional, to physical and interpersonal. The field team has distributed about 120,000 condoms in mapping and risk-reduction activities related to commercial sex. More than 300 women have received information and counseling sessions on how to mitigate the risks they exposed themselves to, in order to prevent HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, and on the available social-medical services near the area in which they operate or where they live. They received primary care assistance, the doctor conducting rapid tests for HIV, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B and syphilis. More than 200 women benefited from social services and referrals to existing social-medical services. We also conducted a study evaluating the access of women who practice commercial sex to public services as well as their vulnerability to abuse by customers or authorities, a study that can be read here: https://bit.ly/2DSkRAo
