During this project, we have started actions dedicated to active seniors in formal or informal groups in order to influence the public decisions that have an impact on the life of the elderly. 262 active seniors, 42 representatives of local authorities, 9 media representatives and 16 representatives of NGOs participated in 10 Senior Café meetings organized in Bucharest, Campulung Muscel, Timisoara, Copsa Mica, Cluj-Napoca , Satu-Mare, Oradea, Braila, Iasi and Ploiesti. In addition, 33 seniors participated in two training sessions in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca in the fields of lobbying and advocacy. On the occasion of the International Day of Elderly, on the 1st of October 2016, we organized an intergenerational flashmob in Bucharest, during which 31 young and elderly volunteers danced together and spread a message that encouraged solidarity between generations, announcing the establishment of the Senior Parliament. The selected members of the Senior Parliament participated in 3 meetings with members of the Commission for Human Rights, the Commission for Labour and Social Protection and prepared a whitepaper regarding a proper environment for an active and dignified aging in Romania.
