Increased capacity for Romanian Permaculture Association to promote and sustain environment protection and regeneration through innovative methods and participatory tehniques in local communities

We have succeeded to improve the capacity of the Romanian Permaculture Association to promote and implement the innovative methods and participatory techniques of permaculture and of the “local communities in transition”. We have equipped an office and attracted 221 sympathetic members (supporters) in the organization, involving them in the establishment of the Coalition for Local Initiative. We have promoted the permaculture and the “local communities in transition” through 8 information sessions and 28 workshops, where we have informed and trained over 500 people. Within the workshops 8 pilot projects were created by the local initiative groups. These have been done on a voluntary basis, with the support and assistance of the organization. We also produced a manual of activities entitled “Urban Permaculture”, accessible online at http://www.initiativelocale.ro/. The organization also had an exchange of good practice visit with a transition community in Switzerland, Schweibenalp, Center of Unity (Briez). The organization shared its experiences acquired during the visit and during the project implementation with about 200 people.
