Members of the Federation and other administrators of protected areas (20 organizations / entities) contributed to the amendment of 6 legislative initiatives with environmental impact, within the framework of a programme for monitoring the activity of the Chamber of Deputies. Most of the proposals were accepted by the committees of the Chamber of Deputies. The amended bills addressed a variety of topics, such as the establishment of the National Agency for Protected Areas, regulations regarding the number of dogs within a sheepfold and winter grazing, contraventions in the forest exploitation sector, the Hunting and Game Act, etc.
The public debate, called “”What laws do we make for nature?”” brought together politicians and administrators of protected areas, the two camps made contacts and established points of interest for future collaborations. The debate materialized in a position paper that was used to raise awareness among politicians on the most pressing issues and priorities in environmental protection.
In the framework of a training and mentoring program, 47 representatives of the protected areas’ administrators have been trained on how to support the proper implementation of the environmental legislation and of the procedures of the environmental impact assessment. More than 20 protected areas have benefited from increased visibility due to the series of articles published on the România Curată platform, these articles being accessed by 200,000 people.
