Maintaining the ecological and economic integritiy of the rural neighborhood of Nature2000 Rarău-Giumalău Site

We have contributed to the implementation of the principles of sustainable tourism in the localities close to the Natura 2000 Rarau – Giumalau Site. 13 representatives of guesthouses near the Natura 2000 site have participated at several stages of training and mentoring, with impacts being visible at 10 guesthouses that use energy and water resources more efficiently, or have adopted composting techniques to reduce the waste amount. Also, 5 protected areas of the Rarau – Giumalau Natura 2000 Site are better preserved, due to the attitude of the representatives of the guesthouses and of the local guides to their values, thanks to the information provided through the multiple trainings. The thematic trails and the trained guides within the project contributed to informing, raising awareness and improving the attitude and behavior of tourists towards the protected areas of the Natura 2000 Rarau – Giumalau Site.
