During the project, approximately 700 children and young people suffering from cancer, leukemia and severe anemia – patients of the Institute of Oncology “Prof. Dr. Alexandru Trestioreanu”, Fundeni Clinical Institute and other similar hospitals in Bucharest – have benefited from better quality of medical and psycho-social care, in accordance with the European Standards of Care for Children with Cancer. Both patients and their families have benefited from a psycho-social, education and medical recovery complex type of assistance through psychological assistance and counseling, as well as financial support to meet urgent needs during treatment (food, transportation, medicines and medical investigations etc.) and combined art therapy and kinetotherapy, respectively. At the same time, we have tried to raise the level of information on cancer signs in children and young people for early diagnosis by implementing a national prevention campaign.
