During this project, we succeeded in strengthening the institutional capacity of the Association for Supporting Patients with Multidrug Resistant Tuberculosis (ASPTMR), so that it can effectively contribute to improving the quality of life of people affected by tuberculosis in Romania, respecting patients’ rights and reducing their social problems. As a follow-up to this initiative, we developed a bill regarding the social protection of patients diagnosed with tuberculosis through actionable and appropriate measures. We also organized an advocacy campaign to pass the bill and in 2018, long after the project was finalized, the law on tuberculosis control was adopted.
